Consultation
At the initial consultation, a full history and examination will be undertaken. An x-ray will also be required. Patients are normally reviewed the same day after the x-ray.
Consultations and X-rays normally take about 30 minutes each. The diagnosis can often be made at the first consultation. Some patients may require additional investigations.

Medical Scans
Doctors use X-rays to quickly see bones and dense structures like bones or soft tissue, which helps them detect things like fractures or inflammations. MRI scans are used when the doctor needs detailed images of soft tissues, such as muscles, tendons or ligaments, without using radiation.
CT/CAT scans combine X-rays to create detailed cross-sectional images, allowing doctors to see both bones and soft tissues in more detail, which is essential in diagnosing complex wear and tear of bones or internal bleeding.
Each tool gives doctors different types of information, depending on what part of the body they need to examine.
X-rays
X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation that can pass through most objects, including the human body. They allow doctors to diagnose fractures, infections, and other medical conditions.

MRI Scans
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, allows doctors to see inside your body in great anatomical detail. It involves a combination of X-ray magnetic fields and a computer to create images of your organs, bones, and other tissue. It shows far more detail than a regular X-ray. MRI is generally used to scan soft tissue.

CT scans
Computerised Tomography (CT scans) combines data from several X-rays to produce detailed images of structures inside the body.
CT scans typically take diagnostic images more quickly than MRI. A CT scan can usually be completed in less than 5 minutes, while MRI takes about 30 minutes.

Self-funding Patients
An increasing number of patients are choosing to pay for their operations independently. The main advantages of this include greater flexibility in selecting the date of your operation. You will also be guaranteed to have the surgeon of your choice. Waiting times are also much lower.
Another big advantage of inclusive care packages is no hidden extras. The cost includes the operation, surgeon fees, hospital stay, physiotherapy, etc. The package also includes one follow-up consultation.
If you feel that you cannot pay the consultation fees or investigations, please contact our secretary, who may be able to offer some advice or make alternative arrangements for you.
As a general rule, it is possible to pay for a private operation either as an inclusive care package or as a self-funding package. Provided that your general health is good, inclusive care packages will normally be offered by the hospital.
With self-funding packages, expenses are totalled up as treatment progresses. Should things, for whatever unforeseen reason, not go to the initial plan, the final bill could, in theory, be greater than expected.
All prices are subject to change.
The exact quote is given during the consultation.
